The Law of Gender

The Law of Gender states that in all things there is a balance of opposing properties (often characterized as masculine and feminine; or yin and yang) such that a disturbance in the balance of such properties in a thing can cause significant change in the form or function of that thing.

We all know that water possesses opposing properties such that it may become either ice or steam. What is less obvious is that all things possess similarly opposing properties that function in a similar fashion.

It is critical in discussing the Law of Gender that we recall The Law of Unity (or Oneness) . All things are of one thing, energy (or God). So, “thing(s)” as referenced in the law include thoughts, actions, words and emotions. This gives rise in our everyday experience to the recognition of such concepts as duplicity; puns, ironies; metaphors, double entendres, dilemmas and misnomers. It results in such phrases as “mixed emotions,” “double-edged sword,” “it cuts both ways,” “being pulled in opposite directions,” et cetera.

In order to attain our highest levels of consciousness; more closely align with the source of creation and our true nature; we must strive to master balance. As humans we are prone to a range of thoughts, actions and emotions. We are constantly tugged in one direction and then another. But the route to our higher selves is through balance; the willingness to flow in any direction; but the unwillingness to remain at any extreme.

If you tend to be very serious, go out on a limb from time to time and do things just for the fun of it. If life seems all fun and games, try to take notice of what sometimes causes pain and suffering for others. If you always play it safe, be willing to take more chances. If you live on the edge, try playing it safe now and then. If others are telling you that you tend toward being self-centered, give more of your time and energy to others. If you are constantly doing for others, seek a little “me” time.

Perfection is a mental construct, the nature of which is impossible. No one is all good; all bad; all capable; or all faulty. If we are to attain ever higher levels of consciousness, we must avoid passing judgment; on ourselves; on each other; and on circumstances. We must remember that under The Law of Relativity all perspectives are relative, and under The Law of Acceptance all things are to be appreciated.

The Law of Gender teaches that in order to maintain our true form and function, we must be balanced; otherwise we become something that was not intended. You were intended to be happy and healthy; to have all that you desire; and to experience whatever you wish—so long as you remain aligned with the laws of your creation; the laws of the universe.

If you are unhappy, unhealthy, feel lacking, or wanting, look to the laws of the universe and determine where you are misaligned and make the necessary corrections. If you do, I promise you that your experience of your current circumstances will change.

Try to embrace all that you are as well as all that you are not. It IS possible to seek more without feeling less than. Instead of adopting the perspective that you are lacking, try adopting the perspective that you would like to experience something “different”. All of the properties you possess, including all of the circumstances that you face, are relative to your perspective. When you change your perception, you change your “truth”.

It is a very true statement that, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change!"

When you change your perception, you change the nature of your properties and the nature of your circumstances. Balance is the state of acceptance and gratitude. Balance is the act of allowing all potential to flow toward you and through you without you becoming unstable or moved to an extreme.

To become balanced, you must release resistance and allow things to be as they are. When you change your perceptions, you will find balance and master the gender of all things including self; opposing forces will permit you to sway, but like a tree in the wind, you can enjoy movement in new directions and still remain centered by the source of your existence, which is the foundation upon which you build your life.

As very complex beings, we should all try to incorporate activities into our daily routines that promote and support “stillness”. Yoga, meditation, self-hypnosis (or “trancing”), and deep breathing, all provide opportunities for us to quiet our spirit and mind.

These practices allow us to release the pressures of our environment and get in touch with our essence; our true selves; our nature; the source of all creation. These moments help us to sort out gender issues (opposing properties—natures, thoughts, emotions and external pressures); find balance; contemplate where we shall expend energy next; and reflect upon our true desires and motivations.

Learning to live as a master of the Law of Gender is like learning to become a graceful dancer. It takes time, practice and discipline. But, as you get better at it, you learn to maintain your form and function; and, you respond gracefully to the changes of rhythms in life.

Below is a link to a video that I believe is an excellent example of the Law of Gender. It depicts two genders (a male and female) dancing (a metaphor for “living”). Both dancers are “balance-challenged”. He is missing a leg, she is missing an arm. Each could have determined that their dancing career was over, neither did. Instead, they sought to master a balance of the properties they were given, and to each balance the properties of the other. Together, the two genders work to support one another’s capabilities; each appreciating the potential of the other; to make real a beautiful ideal conceived in their perceptions of what was possible.
